Project Accountant Location: Central Denver, CO (on-site) About Us: We are a small but growing construction firm based in Central Denver, known for delivering high-quality commercial and residential projects. We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team and help manage project finances with accuracy and transparency. Position Summary for Project Accountant: The Project Accountant will support the financial health of multiple construction projects by ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, billing, and reporting. This role is critical to maintaining strong financial controls and delivering clear, timely information to project managers and leadership. Key Responsibilities of Project Accountant: Collaborate with project managers to develop and maintain project budgets and forecasts Monitor and track project costs, commitments, change orders, and billing status Prepare owner billings, pay applications, and lien releases Review and process subcontractor/vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with contracts Assist with subcontractor payment approvals and maintain payment logs Reconcile job costs monthly and support work-in-progress (WIP) reporting Maintain accurate and organized project files (contracts, POs, change orders) Support month-end and year-end close processes as related to projects Provide timely and accurate financial reports and analysis to management Identify and help resolve financial discrepancies or project issues Assist with audits, insurance certificates, and other compliance documentation Qualifications of Project Accountant: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience) 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project accounting Familiarity with construction billing, AIA forms, and lien waivers a plus Strong knowledge of job cost accounting principles Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 100 Contractor, Procore, Viewpoint) preferred Excellent Excel and general computer skills Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects Strong communication skills and ability to work well with project teams and vendors What We Offer: Paid time off and holidays Health insurance contribution, vision, dental and 401k Dog friendly office Casual environment
