Job Description

For almost 30 years, Sentinel Offender Services has provided community based, offender-funded monitoring services across North America. Working with law enforcement, community corrections agencies and the court system, we provide customized offender management solutions that help to reduce recidivism and improve reentry success. These solutions combine electronic monitoring technology, alcohol and substance abuse testing and community-based offender management programs.

The Drug Testing Technician serves the Sentinel customer by 1) collecting urine samples from offenders involved in the Sentinel Offender Services Drug Testing Program, 2) ensuring chain-of custody procedures are followed, 3) serving as intake/reception staff, and 4) notifying supervising officer of participant non-compliance.

Job Expectations + Essential Functions

•Collect urine samples from offenders involved in the Sentinel Drug Testing Program.

•Follow the proper chain-of-custody procedures to ensure admissibility in court.

•Adhere to proper safety requirements.

•Complete intake duties and baseline screens on all new participants.

•Input and maintain both electronic and hard-copy participant case files according to established procedures.

•Report to the Court or Department all program discrepancies according to established procedures.

•Enforce payment for services, screens and additional confirmation tests.

•Must maintain a strong working relationship between the Courts, the Department and our organization.

•Provide internal and external customer support.

•Perform other job related duties as required.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or equivalent preferred

•Must be able to communicate professionally with the Court, members of the Department, legal representatives, family members, Sentinel and program participants.

•Must possess the ability to function independently, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with clients, co-workers and others.

•Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to client information and records.

•Must possess general computer knowledge and word processing skills.

•Excellent communication skills.

•Professional appearance (grooming and dress consistent with desired company image).

•Above average knowledge of the criminal justice system.

•Good attitude (positive, proactive, team orientated, flexible).

•Planning and organizational skills (priority setting and time management)

•Ability to communicate with the customer to resolve issues while forwarding the development of Sentinel programs and technologies
