Maintenance Manager – Metal Service Center

Location: Central Houston (Onsite)

Industry: Metals Processing / Heavy Industrial

A Central Houston metal service center is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Manager to oversee and coordinate all maintenance operations. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of facility infrastructure and processing equipment. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, combined with proven leadership experience in an industrial or metals environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise, train, and support a team of maintenance technicians across all shifts
• Plan and oversee preventive maintenance schedules and emergency repairs
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment including slitting lines, cut-to-length lines, shears, overhead cranes, forklifts, and coil-handling machinery
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA and company safety standards
• Manage work orders through a CMMS and maintain accurate maintenance records
• Monitor equipment performance and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime
• Coordinate with production, engineering, and vendors for timely repairs and upgrades
• Oversee inventory of critical spare parts and support capital projects, installations, and facility upgrades
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for equipment failures

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training or Associate’s degree preferred
• 5+ years of maintenance experience in a metal service center, steel mill, or heavy industrial setting ( required )
• 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Experience with overhead cranes, slitting/cut-to-length lines, and other metals processing machinery
• Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards, CMMS, and Microsoft Office
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in a heavy industrial environment (noise, heat, moving equipment)
• Capable of standing, walking, lifting, bending, and climbing ladders/stairs
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and respond to on-call/emergency needs as required
