Medical Billing Specialist Job Description:

PrideStaff is working with a local healthcare group who is in search of an experienced Medical Billing Specialist. The Medical Billing Specialist delivers a professional and meticulous understanding of Medical Billing and Coding. The Medical Billing Specialist will be the crucial link between the healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies. The ideal Medical Billing Specialist has multiple years in Medical Billing, holds one or more certifications and is proficient in electronic health codes and software. The Medical Billing Specialist is a full-time, in-office, temp-to-hire position in Fairfax, VA.

Medical Billing Specialist Duties & Responsibilities:

• Accurately Translate Medical Diagnoses, Procedures, & Services Into Universal Medical Codes (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS)

• Creating, Submitting, & TRacking Insurance Claims to Various Payers in a Timely Manner

• Diligently Follow up on Unpaid, Rejected, or Denied Claims, & Investigate & Appeal Discrepancies

• Review Patient Bills For Accuracy & Completeness, & Obtain Any Missing Information

• Serve as a Knowledgeable Point of Contact For Patient Billing Inquiries, Explaining Benefits, & Setting up Payment Plans When Necessary

• Ensure All Billing & Coding Practices Are in Full Compliance With HIPPA, State, & Federal Regulations

• Post Payments From Insurance Companies & Patients, & Reconciling Accounts

• Generating Financial Reports Related to Billing, Collections, & Accounts Receivables

Medical Billing Specialist Requirements & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

• 2+ Years of Hands-On Experience in Medical Billing & Coding

• Certification is Highly Preferred, CPC, CCS, or CPB a Plus

• Proficiency in Using Electronic Health Records & Medical Billing Software (Epic, Cerner, EClinicalWorks)

• Strong Knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, & Physiology

• In-Depth Understanding of ICD-10, CPT, & HCPCS Coding Systems & Guidelines

• Excellent Attention to Detail & a High Degree of Accuracy

• Strong Organizational & Time Management Skills, With The Ability to Prioritize & Manage Multiple Tasks Effectively

• Sold Communication & Interpersonal Skills For Interacting With Patients & Insurance Carriers
