We are looking for a skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join our team on a 12-week contract in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate and timely processing of healthcare claims, contributing to the efficiency and success of our billing operations. Responsibilities:
• Review patient accounts and billing data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare and submit claims using UB04 and CMS1500 formats based on payer-specific requirements.
• Identify errors in billing data, correct discrepancies, and resubmit claims to facilitate timely reimbursement.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, working with payers and internal teams to resolve issues effectively.
• Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and government guidelines, including Medicare and Medicaid policies.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to obtain necessary information for accurate billing.
• Utilize billing systems, such as Epic, to process claims and manage accounts receivable.
• Handle appeals and authorizations as part of the claims resolution process.
• Maintain organized records and meet deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare setting.• At least 3 years of experience in medical billing or a related role.
• Proficiency in billing systems, including Epic, and knowledge of ICD-10 coding.
• Familiarity with UB04 and CMS1500 billing formats.
• Strong understanding of insurance claims processes and payer-specific requirements.
• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Experience with accounts receivable, appeals, and authorizations.
• Certification in medical billing is a plus but not required.
