Overview X-energy is seeking professionals to join our Licensing team in the role of Nuclear Licensing Engineer. This position is responsible for supporting the X-energy licensing efforts with the U.S. NRC. This person will lead portions of licensing application development and interface between the X-energy team (licensing, design, and analysis engineers) and the U.S. NRC. This includes relevant topic areas of financial, environmental laws, nuclear safety, nuclear security, emergency planning, and safeguards primarily applied to the X-energy reactor design. If anyone claiming to represent X-energy directs you in a manner otherwise, please contact us at Responsibilities Support portions of licensing activities (certifications, permits, approvals, and licenses associated with reactor technologies) and ensure milestones are met as agreed with the U.S. NRC. Provide licensing support to engineers in developing technical requirements that will ensure compliance with NRC regulations and guidance. Support scope development of the annual regulatory engagement plan, lead regulatory audits and responses to RAI’s (Requests for Additional Information). Develop licensing content to support portions of Safety Analysis Reports and licensing applications. Support planning and executing the X-energy licensing strategy. Develop regulatory white papers, technical reports, and licensing topical reports. Support development of licensing plans and associated budgets. Actively support the X-energy safety culture and ensure integration of quality in licensing processes as informed by the X-energy Quality Assurance Program. Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication. Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, without close supervision and extensive latitude for independent judgment. Teach and mentor more junior team members. Stay abreast of industry and academic trends, breakthroughs, and best practices. Perform other duties as assigned by manager. Minimum qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (e.g. mechanical, nuclear, electrical, physics) or other related area. Typically, fifteen years of relevant licensing experience. Experience in direct NRC interactions (written and/or verbal). Understanding of the nuclear regulatory processes in the United States. Experience in project management related to developing schedules and coordinating team activities to produce technical content for regulatory purposes. Experience in the licensing of advanced nuclear reactor technologies and experience in seismic and/or structural analysis of nuclear structures, strongly preferred. Compensation As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives. A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is: $159,390.00 to $203,665.00.
