Role: Orientation and Mobility Specialist We have a full‑time career opportunity for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. The position is based in our Training Building in Sands Point, NY, with a regular schedule of 8am‑3:45pm EST for a 35‑hour work week. Pay Range $75,000.00 / yr – $85,000.00 / yr Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide instruction in safe and efficient travel skills, including indoor techniques such as human guide, self‑protection, and cane skills on campus. Evaluate student progress and submit scheduled written reports (assessment, training, and transition). Stay current with O&M research, teaching methods, and aids; recommend and implement new methods or aids into student programs. Recommend appropriate materials and equipment. Provide in‑service training for staff and other stakeholders on orientation and mobility training for DeafBlind individuals. Accompany consumers and professional staff members as a human guide or communication support; use personal vehicle when required. Required Education and Experience Master’s degree in Blind Rehabilitation with an emphasis in Orientation and Mobility. Preferred Education and Experience Two years of experience teaching orientation and mobility; knowledge of braille and sign language preferred.
