• Worksite Location: Remote
• Contract Duration: 4 months
• Compensation: $45.00-$55.00 per hour, W2

What you'll do as a Payroll Tax Consultant: 

• Review and triage outstanding payroll tax agency notifications (federal, state, and local)
• Investigate and resolve tax discrepancies, delinquencies, or penalties
• Collaborate with payroll providers, tax authorities, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues promptly
• Analyze current payroll tax workflows and documentation practices
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance compliance and reduce risk
• Support the cleanup and validation of payroll tax account registrations and filings
• Document resolution steps and maintain organized records of correspondence and outcomes
• Assist with reconciling payroll tax liabilities and ensuring accuracy of year-to-date reporting
• Provide knowledge transfer and guidance to the payroll team on best practices and compliance

What you’ll bring to the Payroll Tax Consultant role:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in payroll tax compliance, preferably in a multi-state environment
• Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
• Experience resolving payroll tax notices and dealing with tax agencies
• Familiarity with Workday payroll and ADP Smart Compliance
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and document management systems
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
