The Plant Manager will lead the recruitment and selection of the workforce and safely guide the facility through commissioning, start-up, and into full-time operations. The Orange Plant will employ greater than 150 team members. Some travel may be required.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, plan, and manage all aspects of the paper production facility with an annual capacity of 20 BSF or 450,000 tons.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of truck and rail loading departments and wastepaper receiving operations.
  • Foster a participative, highly engaged workforce culture focused on developing employees for higher levels of responsibility and accountability.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, RPM, visual work, and 5S.
  • Formulate short and long-term operating goals for cost reduction, capital/facility planning, quality/service, new products, and workforce development.
  • Collaborate frequently with corporate sales, sourcing, logistics, finance, engineering and technical groups to achieve assigned safety, quality, cost and profitability metrics.
  • Develop plans and countermeasures to ensure financial goals are met or exceeded.

Qualifications:

  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage employees in a participative, high employee engagement culture.
  • Strong leadership, management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to achieve results by collaborating with key stakeholders from the plant, shared services, and other corporate functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate within a planned budget and manage costs within established goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a Plant Manager in the Paper Industry or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of safety culture in manufacturing operations.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and strategic vision.
  • Broad knowledge of continuous improvement processes and experience implementing LSS, RPM, 5S and visual work methods.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, with a strong preference towards Paper Science/Manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading a large team or similar-sized manufacturing facility.
