The Senior Purchasing Manager will build and lead a high-performing procurement function, overseeing day-to-day purchasing operations and developing strategic sourcing initiatives for both OEM and rotable parts. Reporting to the Vice President of Purchasing, this role ensures optimal inventory levels, drives cost-savings, and champions continuous process improvements across the global supply chain.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Team Leadership & Development: Hire, train, mentor, and manage a skilled procurement team to meet departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Procurement Operations: Oversee requisitions, purchase orders, and inventory replenishment, ensuring timely fulfillment of parts requirements.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute sourcing strategies for rotable and expendable parts to maximize availability and minimize total cost of ownership.
  • Inventory Management: Define minimum stock levels, implement restocking protocols, and partner with logistics to maintain consistent inventory across global hubs.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify volume rebates, discount opportunities, and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers to achieve aggressive cost-reduction targets.
  • KPI Ownership: Establish and track departmental KPIs tied to spend reduction, supplier performance, and process efficiency; report metrics to senior leadership.
  • ERP Systems: Implement and maintain purchasing and inventory modules within the ERP system, driving data accuracy and process automation.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and supplier landscape to inform procurement decisions.
  • Process Improvement: Lead cross-functional initiatives to streamline sourcing workflows and enhance supplier reliability.
  • Supplier Governance: Maintain the Approved Supplier List, conduct periodic supplier audits, and drive corrective action plans as needed.
  • Special Projects: Manage and execute ad-hoc assignments, including inventory package reviews and strategic initiatives.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support organizational goals.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 7 years of procurement experience in the aviation sector, including 3+ years in a leadership capacity
  • Hands-on experience with rotable and expendable parts provisioning
  • Proficiency in data analysis and forecasting methodologies
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations pertaining to parts procurement, documentation, and traceability
  • Ability to interpret technical aviation documentation (IPC, SB, AD, SIL)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed
