We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Consulting Special Education Teacher to join our team in the healthcare industry. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals with special needs. The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide specialized educational services to patients, support their families, and facilitate their integration into the community. This role requires a passionate individual with a solid background in special education and a commitment to improving the lives of those with special needs.
Responsibilities
1. Evaluate the educational needs of patients with special needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) that address their unique learning styles and abilities.
2. Provide direct and indirect instructional support to patients in a one-on-one or group setting.
3. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including psychologists, therapists, and social workers, to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care.
4. Advocate for the educational rights and needs of patients within the healthcare setting and the broader community.
5. Conduct regular assessments to monitor patient progress and adjust IEPs as necessary.
6. Provide guidance and support to family members and caregivers, helping them understand the educational needs and rights of their loved ones.
7. Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, sharing insights and strategies to improve patient outcomes.
8. Stay updated on the latest research, developments, and best practices in special education, particularly as they apply to the healthcare setting.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
2. A minimum of 1 years of experience working as a Special Education Teacher, preferably within a healthcare setting.
3. Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
4. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing effective IEPs.
5. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
6. Strong understanding of the legal and ethical considerations related to special education in a healthcare setting.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to adapt to changing circumstances and needs.
8. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and learning in the field of special education.
9. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
