Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Shift Manager for a night shift Emergency Room role requiring a CA RN license and strong charge or management experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Work in a 21-bed Emergency Room within an acute care setting
• Nurse Shift Manager will fulfill both direct patient care and Charge Nurse responsibilities
• Night shifts with self-scheduling, including 4 weekend shifts every 4-week schedule
• Patient ratios are 1:4, or 1:2 for ICU-level patients held in the ER
• Typical ER patient population with occasional MedSurg/Tele holds
• Use of telemetry monitoring (Phillips), ventilators, and Cerner EMR
• Must float between two local ER facilities as needed, notification provided prior to shift or mid-shift
• No IV team available; ED Techs, LVNs, EMTs, and resource nurses provide support
• Required to provide coverage for 1 major and 1 minor holiday during assignment
• On-call situations require arrival within 30 minutes
• Orientation includes 2 shifts at primary campus and 1 at secondary facility
• Primary responsibilities include managing the ER, providing direct patient care, triaging, starting IVs, administering medications, and supporting the department as needed
• Expected to work collaboratively with ED team members and support a teamwork-oriented environment
• Facility is a Primary Stroke Center and utilizes a Mobile Evaluation Team (MET)
• ER sees varying patient volumes and some behavioral health cases (rarely held longer than 12 hours)
• Navy blue scrubs required, including jackets and undershirts in navy, white, or black
• No block scheduling allowed; schedule finalized by the manager
• This position must be the candidate’s primary job, with availability as required by the assignment

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 3 years recent Emergency Room RN experience
• Strong charge nurse or management experience in an ER setting required
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS (AHA or ARC), PALS, NIHSS
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Must provide two professional references: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
• Copy of driver’s license must be provided for consideration
