APS is an innovative and growing company who is searching for experienced candidates for the position of directional drill operator. To join our growing team, please review the list of responsibilities and qualifications.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Operation of directional drilling rig, vacuum excavation equipment, drilling fluid mixing equipment and drill steering equipment.
• Perform Pre / Post Trip inspections.
• Ability to perform work safely and bring safety hazards to the attention of management.
• Ability to maintain compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Ability to communicate with supervisor, co-workers, and public.
• Knowledge of basic mechanical and hydraulic principles and basic construction
• Verify locates are correct.
• An understanding of underground utilities.
• Communicate the task at hand to the drill crew.
• May be required to work day, evening or night hours, overtime, weekends and out-of-town assignments as required
• Be proactive about learning to read prints and drawings.
• Pothole all utilities that will either be paralleled or crossed during the bore shot.
• Before the bore shot is started, walk out bore shot to ensure all utilities have been located and develop a plan for going above or below each utility or obstacle in the bore path.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in Operating/locating/ directional drill.
• Proven experience in working around underground utilities.
• Proficiency in operating a directional drill and associated locating equipment.
• Capable of working outside in all types of weather and ground conditions.
• Ability to operate various pieces of equipment as needed.
• The ability to manage and direct construction crew.
• Ability to read and comprehend and follow all quality/safety policies and procedures.
• Valid Driver's License
