Job Summary
Responsible for all maintenance planning and coordination of plant machinery and equipment. Primary objective is to utilize personnel, equipment and systems to ensure maximum production quantity and quality for the Company by performing the following duties:
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining all machinery and equipment to ensure that there are no interruptions to production and that all equipment is safe to operate. Recommends significant repairs to Plant Manager and obtains bids from vendors.
- Ensures and maintains any updates for equipment information and repair files are completed in full
- Develops, updates, and implements Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs and documents the completion of PM’s
- Responsible for ensuring that an inventory is kept of important spare parts and tools needed to avoid downtime in production
- Maintain building and property to company standards and expectations
- Monitor and analyze utility usage (electricity, water/sewer, gas) and propose, develop, and implement cost savings measures
- Monitor BOD and pH levels in waste water and evaluate existing procedures versus establishment of own waste water treatment facility. Prepare cost comparison analysis and make recommendations to VP-Operations and Plant Manager.
- Develop a Proposal for a Sustainability Policy for Company. After implementation, responsible for maintaining updates.
- Assist Plant Manager in developing plans for efficient plant operation and monitoring and enforcing safety in plant. Arrange for safety repairs and updates as needed
- Responsible for the facility’s PSM Program & Refrigeration Systems in consultation with external refrigeration company. Follow procedures and document as required. Notifies Plant Manager if major repairs or replacements are needed.
- Demonstrate leadership in the implementation and support of a safety focused culture
- Lead in the training and development of employees by managing performance and creating an environment in which they have the opportunity to succeed.
- In consultation with Plant Manager, responsible for ensuring plant operates in compliance with all laws and regulations
- Assists other maintenance personnel with equipment repairs and research as required. Ensures that maintenance personnel are adequately trained, equipped and motivated so that maintenance programs can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost effective manner
- Responsible for plant security and access
- Responsible for obtaining and retaining MSDS Sheets as needed
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and wearing of all required safety gear (PPE)
- Adhere, support, and enforce all company policies and procedures
- Complies with attendance guidelines of the company.
- Comply with all food safety/quality related programs and procedures accordingly to support GFSI and regulatory standards
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure property is maintained including lawns, trees, bushes, grounds, etc.
- Assist in developing, updating, and implementing Vendor Policies
- Assist in monitoring waste water discharge
- Assist Plant Manager in preparation of annual budgets
- Lead staff meetings to discuss production, concerns, or other related information
- Understand the needs and concerns of employees and resolve issues with the assistance of the HR department
- Maintains ongoing correspondence and communication with other departments (emails, reports, etc.)
- Participate in job and safety training offered and required by the Company
- Maintain good housekeeping of work areas
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge

Industry Technical and Workplace Experience
- Experience in the following areas:
- Leadership
- Process improvement
- Production equipment and processes
- Meat processing industry is desired but not required
License or Certification
Academic
- High school education or GED along with at least (2) years experience or equivalent education and/or experience
